They pour big but stock mininum cross sectional area is small.. You can fix that with thru porting. They need agressive porting. Don't be shy, but also keep the intake port flange opening to a 1205 gasket size. Many get carried away here. The big gains are deeper in the ports.

WebThese heads will port out well, but be aware that 305 heads have smaller valves, so only look for 350 heads unless you’re specifically working on a 305. This will save you the expense of extra machining to put in larger valves. Also, if the porting technician is too exuberant, there’s the possibility of porting these into the water jacket. I ported those heads and left the stock valves and stock valve job was just lapped in.

Most of the power pack heads I have been involved with are the 896-520-and 520T versions, with the 520T generally being the best flowing casting. I do know of people using the 906's on 305's and make great power with them.
