WebJun 22, 2011 · The protection groups backup to disk then to tape. I enabeld co-location for the tape library but the backups on the tapes are scattered to multiple tapes. I would like to have our backups that go to tape use only one tape and when that tape is full start on the next availabe tape regardless of which protection group it is in. WebJun 3, 2024 · That tape may be (one of many used) part of a backup protection group whereby some protection points may not had expired as yet; (e.g. different retention ranges) therefore the entire set of tapes are not expired (Refer to: Tape Optimization settings, co-located protection group sets). You should be able to right click the tapes and then pick 'Mark as Free'. In which case it will wipe the tape. If it thinks the contents are still part of an active protection group then you will need to use a powershell script to do a force wipe.
